I've heard of positive feedback on Vietnam scenery, but yet I don't know how good it is compare to China. I did some survey on my travel before leaving, especially on food and beverages. Yes, you know me well, this will be the first thing I would like to explore, trying special food of each country. Every night surveying on this FOOD stuff, makes me feel so hungry, but I still manage to keep myself awake and not into taking any suffer. Will this make me keep fit a bit? I wonder...

Here I am in Hanoi for 5 days 4 nights travel with my beloved family. We departed from home to LCCT at 3am 6th February 2008, flying to Hanoi in Air Asia airplane. This is first time experience in LCCT and AirAsia for most of my family members, this is my own second time. My first experience was bad, I travel back from Penang to KL a day before National Day. It is supposed to depart around 10.45pm, instead making me having a delay of an hour. AirAsia doesn't surved any food for us, instead making the passengers to purchase their food service. To save some money, we've got ourselves Mc Donald's breakfast as usual. I hate having those hash brown and coffee everytime I will need to travel, so I get myself a Filet-O-Fish.

All the procedures went smoothly and finally we set off leaving Malaysia at 6.30am. I feel quite tired, because I didnt sleep the whole night waiting the time to come. No point for me to sleep at 12am and awake on 2am for all the preparations right? I did take a nap on the flight, but it was not comfortable because we chose a wrong seat at the emergency exit. We are not allowed to lye down our seat to make my sleep more comfortable. So I wake up with neckache.Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, having quite a cold weather compare to Guang Zhou. This is quite a suprise to us, because from geographically, Guang Zhou is at north of Hanoi. The temperature of the days we were there consider to be ok, according to our guide, ranging from 8 to 12 degree celcius. I was wearing sleeveless when I left AirAsia, and soon cover up myself with sweater and jacket. Well, I still can cope with the COLD, trained by my company air-con. In our travel itinery, there is no programme being arranged for the first day, me myself wondering why when I first see the itinerary. However, we did some shopping and visiting to temple.

Vietnamese, celebrating the chinese new year as what we did, having holiday till the 6th day of chinese new year. Generally, there are not many shops that is available for us to do shopping when we were at the Van Phuc village. We were left with one shop to pay visit and drag out our USD. Sooner, there were two more shops opening for business, I think they must overheard our voice in the shop. Business comes first, out of the three shops, all selling silks. I bought a tie for my boy :) It's cheap and looks nice... hehehe~~~Before dinner time, we went for water puppet show, local traditional show which is a must see. The actors and actresses have themselves half-soaked in the water, holding bamboo sticks which control the movement of the puppets. Quite a pity life for them, even they get high pay. (which convert into RM, actually only hundred over only) So called "high pay" will need to be saved, for their future life spend in hospital due to rheumatism. The show was around 45 minutes and it was special one.

For reunion dinner, we tried vietnamese spring roll, which is quite famous with its rice paper. I tried once in Penang, in a soya bean shop owned by a boss whose wife is a vietnamese, the taste is so refreshing with the peppermint leave that she puts in. For the one that we tried in Hanoi, they put in some vietnam beehoon, prawn and herbs. Well, I still prefer my first try, maybe it is just because that was my first try. However, generally the reunion dinner was great. We were accompanied by some musicians playing some traditional vietnamese musical equipments, they even play us some chinese songs.

We do not have any acticities after dinner for nights in Vietnam. For the first night, we were brought to the 36 Ancient Streets to do some "pasar malam" shopping. Well, as what I said, they did celebrate chinese new year, so there weren't much shops there. But the center of the street areas were still crowded with people, motorbikes and cars. The locals went out for count down I guessed. Since there was nothing much to do there, we took taxi ride back to our hotel for USD5, which I think is overpaid because we reach the hotel in 5 minutes time.

Not many were able to wake up for count down, for my family only me and Jia Qi able to make it. The vietnamese is having 30 minutes of fireworks and releasing chinese lantern (Kong-Ming deng) into the sky for prayers. We were treat with some small banquet, served with red wines and some snack. Both of us had half a glass of red wine, which make us a good sleep after that.

First day of Chinese New Year, we went to visit mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh. Some of you might think it's taboo, anyhow travelling so far away, it's good to pay a visit and show our respect to their leader. We are not allowed to bring in any handphone and camera into the mausoleum, we are required to go through a sensored gate, which is much like how I enter my company for regular work. The "Ho Chi Minh" relique that I see, I can't judge if it's real. To me, it's more like a wax product -_- We visited the house of Ho Chi Minh, also the car that he used when he was alive, etc...

Halong Bay, requires a travel of 4 hours from Hanoi city. Well, I've used to 4 hours travel, it's just like travelling from Penang to KL. While travelling in the bus, we watched a movie... guess what? It's Shaolin soccer! Hahaha~~~ well, this suits our taste :P Everyday travel we were stopping at some shops which sells local products, this is good for us to get nice toilet as well as some chance to buy some stuffs.

It was late evening when we reached Halong Bay, bus driver drove us to round the "village" before we checked into hotel and have a short rest. After dinner, we paid the bus driver to drive us for 1.5 hours night market visit, each pay RM4. Here I bought myself Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional costume), my mum too :D It costs me USD10 for a set of that. But never known by any of us, the cloth are too "transparent" which I need to send to tailor after I'm back to Malaysia.

Second day of chinese new year, it's Halong Bay day :D The jetty is very near to our hotel, so we reached quite early. One special thing on the cruises that are available at the jetty is that one cruise will accomodate the whole group that comes together, so our tour group will not need to share with other tour group. We were seated 6 in a table, suits with the number of my family members. But we didn't stay long in the cabin, people start to walk upstair to expose themselves to the cool adn refreshing air at the very beginning when the cruise started to head towards the center. There are some small boats which will come near to our cruise and sells us fruits. Also, we were drove to a fisher village where they sell fresh seafood, but I heard with high price. Soon, we were brought to a cave with those stalactites. Not the first time I see all these, they are just the same as China, with China having much professional tour guide service. Alright, maybe I'm really bias. I really think China is much better. As the well-known and high-class ice-cream, they do have their fine texture when your lips touches the cool indulgence. Out of all flavours provided, I chose choc choc chip and traditional cookies' & cream. Häagen-Dazs doesn't not give a any mint chocolate unfortunately, which is my favourite.

I still prefer Baskin Robbins in comparison. It is my first time in TGI Friday, since restaurant has been given me some "high-class" impression. It is not as what I’ve thought of as we pay the bill. It is having priced same as Chilis. Now I remember that I was having Chilis on other’s treat too during my industrial training.

Well, 9 of us included James, Leonard, Yong Ming, Lee Wooi, Shiau Yen, Guat Lee, Seng Han, Han Bang and myself sitting at a corner of the restaurant. Interior of the restaurant slightly dim with some guitar collection and rock feel. Waiters and waitresses greeted us and lead us to out reserved seats. Leonard claimed to be vegetarian on the day, gain some sympathy from us. This calamity guy always forgot about his vegetarian calendar. Man, you should have check the calendar earlier and request for postpone of the date. Well, he is being forced to look at 8 of us, enjoying our non-vegetarian meals in front of him, while he himself only allow with mushrooms, onions, celeries and broccolis.

I’ve ordered myself Jack Daniel’s Chicken and Shrimps. At first I would like to try on their steak, but can someone please tell me why there are so many different types of level of cooking for a steak. I don’t want to think if I want it to be how many percent cooked, making me feeling like taking out calculators from bag and start calculating what is the best answer it could be, so I went off with chicken. The result turned out to be nice one with that special Jack Daniel’s sauce. Leonard was right with the sauce, it’s nice to dip the broccolis with it. The flesh of chicken well cooked, still soft and smooth. Shrimps too, fried nicely and nice to taste a bite.

Shiau Yen was pity one last night, having her very belated birthday celebration. The story goes this way, when James asked who is having birthday this month or coming to be, then she having the fast response to raise up her hand and claim her birthday month. Well, I think James was not thinking of playing on this, but Leonard, maybe too free and have nothing to do since the vegetarian food is too limited in TGI Friday, so he called upon the waiter and told him that we’re celebrating birthday. Honestly, if I knew that birthday celebration is being celebrated this way, I will never accept any invitation to TGI Friday. After having meal, our waiter came with a slice of birthday cake to Shiau Yen. Poor Shiau Yen was being asked to stand on the chair and the waiters and waitresses all gathered beside our table, trying to announce this to all. They sang something that I really cannot catch, and they took the cake two adults away from Shiau Yen, asking her to blow the candle off, she made it!

The slice of birthday cake was nice, but we had some discussion on the bill, because we thought that they charged us for the birthday celebration. However the mist was cleared after explanation done.

Before this, I heard many saying that TGI Friday served bad service. I think they have improved since then, to make better reputation. However, I still like Chilis more, not knowing the reason. Anyhow, it is a good try and again thanks to James for paying up the bill. I guess you got a good focal right?

Debate Viva~~

Sometimes I really cannot believe that I'm so involved into debate. Recently I heard from my dear junior that they are being invited to participate in World Debate Competition organized by MMU, Malacca, I fell excited as if I’m the one who is being invited.

I never have been a couch or someone working hard at the background. All the while, I’ve been playing role as a debater who stand on the stage, facing the audience and judges. Everyone knows my name when they watched the show. Always after the great competition, I abandon the team, stay no long there. Now, I’ve graduated, sometimes I did feel that I sacrificed much of my time to work on something not expected by my parents. I thought I hate it, since I’ve been quitting the team for twice. But now I know, I’m always proud to become a member of the debate world. There I gain back my confident, which I lose them all in my career.

Back to the World Debate Competition. While my juniors are excited to take part in the competition, I’ve contacted my couch, the main couch of our team, and agreed to help them on their journey. Although I’m here in Penang, but I’m quite excited on the preparation. Being a ditcher and let them die themselves previously, this time, being the first time, I’m all into the information searching my own automatically.

It’s been long since I left the world, and now I’m back. Everything starts refreshing my memory of the good old days. Tears, sweat, anger, disappointment… I hope that I've grown up and able to become their role model by providing great analysis and information seacher.

2nd Blood Donation In Intel

Blood Donation Campaign is back. So I can see they are still serving customers with free coffee, even though it is half an hour past noon.

Manage to catch the advertisement right in front of the cashier counter

Thank you to Leonard for the verification on the participating store, well, we did play around with our own brewed coffee, adding in chocolate powder, sugar and milk. Coffee is originally bitter, isn't it?

I'm not coffee-lover, instead I always educate those coffee-lovers to reduce coffee intake. But since now it's free, why not have some? We were given free Tall (12-ounce) cups of coffee. Not only us, plenty there, making Borders some noise. (Actually we were the noisest!) We took away a cup for Suet Sun, since Jules doesn’t want any. (What for you join us for free coffee, since you don’t want a taste of it?? Well, he did serve us good with sugar and creamer, so no more complain)

6 cups of coffee with gorgeous friends

After filling our stomach with this “liquid”, wow, can hardly move. Luckily, no one is free to comment my blog as a "dead blog". Actually, I still blog, just that it's no more in English. Well, 3 months after my previous post, it's 2007!

This few days, felt being abandoned, like how I abandon this blog. Yes, he was too busy with his job, as what he told. Don't even have a chance to give me a phone call. Yesterday I missed his phone, but he told me that he indeed talk to me before sleep yesterday. I think I must be dreaming by that time, until I cannot recall that I picked up any call.

Maybe I’m too free nowadays, suddenly feel lonely with no reason. I’m empty inside, sad to say. I really don’t know what I want! Feel so angry to myself. They commented me correct and precisely, I’m a bit easily getting angry nowadays.

Now I know when I will post something here, when I have something that I don't really want him to know :( I hope to be independent, as how I perform in previous. Well, this is the third day since I've been converted to a permanent hire, at last! Been waiting too long for this, till I don't have any special feeling or excitement on the conversion. Yes, I got new labtop with me, and need to get my house desktop back to my brother for him to work on his university assignments and projects.

Long time never share anything in this place, although Jules always complain on my slowness and unproductiveness. But looking at SY situation, I suddenly feel that I’m getting a job by luck, shouldn’t I be appreciating it anyhow? They’re just too much, making a mess country.

Single Meal Menu

It's a lonely weekend for me, since everyone is not here to accompany me. It's alrite, just given me a chance to revise my first few months here, with all my ABC soup. It's a bit boring life, after months of excitement outing with people. Finally it's time to calm down, and live alone :(

I still love cooking, although it's simple cooking for me, everytime cook for myself only. Redeemed the sunshine vouchers and went for small shopping, yes alone, at sunshine for an hour. Looking here and there, buying nothing, no dress, no clothes for me. So at last, went back for grocery shopping, and yes, I bought something here, some fruits, some vege, some potatoes and onions, and also some chicken drumstick. So that's it for my meal for two days, spending RM20 vouchers here.

I'm happy with the outcome of my shopping, with my lunch and dinner. Although my meal kept on repeating the same menu, and make me not feeling like eating, but it's consider to be a good one since I'm having it alone, criticizing my own, and finish it my own. No need to trouble others for being "white mice" for me. I'm satisfied.

Share with you my meals, I took photos on them :) Well, now I'm looking forward for this weekend because Huey Fen told me that she've got herself cooking gas, and ask me to cook for her. As a dude, I put on nothing, stay my simple and natural style :P It's so troublesome to take care of the make up, while sweating everywhere.

Waited inside the hall for 5 hours to wait for everyone to go up to the stage and receive scroll. Leonard, the initiator of these, quite well prepared to do the good deed. He was so happy that he managed to drag 10 of us to join the fest.

The blood donation was ok, with two hands of mine being the victim. Extravagated blood on my left hand that shocked me a while when I removed the plaster yesterday night. I rub my left hand for some times so that it will recover faster. With the "injured" hand, I still went for Modern Jazz for second class. Thankfully, I don't have any further injury, just a bit more tired than the first class. It might due to the harder steps to be catched up, or the effect of blood donating.

This is the second time that I participate in blood donation. The theory applied first when I go Eden Food Fair with Jules, Wee Meng, Leonard, Sheau Yiing and Kit Fei; it was being supported again when we did our teambuilding at St. Nicholas Home. It was still a shock for me although I’ve noticed something went wrong with all those around me.

With limited intelligence, I would like to say congratulations to everyone who is involved, you guys really good in conning me. I just managed to sense that people are hiding something from me, very weird case. And this end up to be a surprise birthday celebration for September babies. They all say that I looked very sad before the celebration was being announced, almost want to cry, am I? Actually nothing about sad that I thought of, just that I wonder have I done anything wrong, making everyone act so mysterious in front of me. I won’t mind if no one invites me to any event, everyone has their own plan. No responsibility for anyone to do so.

Firstly, my cube is quite strategic to receive all kinds of information or hints. Yes, I’m dumb to investigate the truth myself, just manage to collect some hints that people left behind for me to think. Well, it’s not easy to make the guess since everything seems normal with those very close to me. Finally I found out that Leonard has the great talent to become the future Oscar winner, contributing in the con plan that he set up for me. He keeps on complaining that it’s hard for him to keep the truth away from both me and Wee Meng, since everyday we had dinner together. I can understand that, it’s very difficult task to keep secret which you wish to share with friends actually. Alright, Leonard, keep it for yourself… A big relieve for you, dude!

The second victim of the hinting thing was Sheau Yiing. Now I know it’s not easy to become my cube mate, and being a part of the hiding committee. Every moment facing the challenge from those blur people to have say out something that would have spoil the party, really exciting job to be done. I can still recall her reaction of hinting those blurs to wake up from their blurriness, yea, she acted it again for me to laugh at the facial expression.

We went for the BBQ and steamboat restaurant. I kept quiet most of the time, not in talking mode yesterday. I think I did shock some people with my quiet mode, sorry if made anyone uncomfortable. Who knows if anyone has already used to my laughter and voice? It was memorable, a birthday celebration consist of 26 people, included LK family. We are the big crowd, chatting and cooking...

Supple

I don’t know if I’ve used the word ‘supple’ correctly. One good point on practicing in the English blogging is to improve on my written language, although I still don’t understand when to use those present, past and future tenses. Alright, now I learn a new word – supple. So good to have translator :)

This is about the Modern Jazz class that I’ve attended yesterday. It is some kind of fitness program by Intel. I wanted to join dancing class long time ago. But then, when I first come in, I was much stingier than what I am now, not willing to spend money on these. When I started to change my mind later, the class was half way in a new song, which I think better not to interrupt the class and embarrass myself.

It happened to be a coincidence for me to know that yesterday the class got to dance on a new song, so I’ve just got myself in the class with Soek Junn, Suet Sun and Lan Sin. Lan Sin just happened to be waiting for some friends for dinner till 8pm, so she heard that I was going to join the class, and decided to join the crowd. In the class, we met Fang Fang, and later Sheau Yiing and Pik Lay. 7 of us, with Soek Junn as the senior in Modern Jazz.

The class was nice. The instructor considered a lot of the attendees were new to Modern Jazz, she have started the class with some simple steps with simple songs. Only one of the members is a guy, and I heard that he’s there to court the instructor. Though he’s a funny one, and everyone in the class talked freely, maintaining the friendly environment.

It was not a tough class to me, since I’ve learned on Ballet, Chinese dance and Modern dance previously. However, this is almost 8 years after my last dancing performance during form 3 studies. Actually, I’m quite happy to get into the dancing world once again. Sweat is worthy there, and I enjoyed looking at myself (elegant look haha~~) improving in front of the big mirror. Dancing always a nice sport to practice, I enjoyed both the dancing steps and the music. Counting on the tempo, starting with 1, 2, 3, 4, until a day when you’re able to perform confidently in front of everyone. Maybe I’m the kind of person who like stage performance, it’s nice being on the stage performing :P Missed the time~

Smell Tasty? I'm gonna beat yer...

Tasty era was over and I knew that Leonard was looking forward to the new shop replacing Tasty. This as being proved where he firstly suggested in visiting this new shop when we were thinking of place to go for lunch. Alright, since Saturday was the first day for it, we shall go there and give it a try.

It was 4 days after last day of tasty. Guess what? The new shop name is nothing creative at all – Smell Tasty, sounds lame and “copy cat”. There was nothing being changed except that the owner and the waitress of the shop no longer the same, with some drawings and photos hung on the wall before were being removed from the original position. Feel a bit sad to say ‘goodbye’ to Tasty, however life still goes on and we really need to give new people some chance.

I don’t feel comfortable yet after having my seat with Jennifer and Agnes, and left by the waitress there, reading our own menu. It doesn’t feel good to look at the limited variety of food, with higher price compared to previous Tasty. I called upon the waitress for food ordering, and I dislike the way that she response to us, not good in manner enough. I simple ordered something (three flavored chicken fried rice), since I dun find the menu has something interesting. It might due to the crowd of customers visiting for the first day, the waitresses in the shop showed their messy and unsystematic look.

Later, Huey Fen joined us. Not long after she’s here, I heard that the waitress says that they are not going to cook anymore for those who have not ordered, meaning last call. Quickly Huey Fen ordered the same thing as I ordered. I start to doubt on the efficiency of this new shop, I’ve never heard of any restaurant that has run out of stock for the first day of business. I can’t accept the lack of preparation on serving. I nearly fainted when I hear what she says to our late comer – Leonard and Wee Meng. “Excuse me, sir. We got nothing left to cook. If you wish to order drink, we still have it, but not food.” What kind of restaurant is this?? Leonard and Wee Meng showed that “big eye” emotion to her. That was just ridiculous!! Are they really on business?? After some sort of negotiating, she has suggested that our two gentlemen to have some ginger garlic chicken rice. And come back to us to inform that there’s no more chicken, only fish left. Oh my… what a bad service is this. Both of them nearly left with anger.

What I don’t like about this Smell Tasty is at first the food don’t smell tasty. Second is that since the food is not delicious, and I don’t think the price is reasonable. All the food served there are having higher price than our lovely Tasty, with the cheapest to be RM4.90. All I can say is that this sucks shop is lack of everything. How they can make business with this? Every time when potential customers come for visit, just tell them that you have nothing to be sold?? What the… And the final thing I don’t like is the service attitude of the waitresses. They don’t give reasonable excuse to comfort the customers, don’t speak soft and treat us nicely. What so ever, I got bad impression on this stupid Smell Tasty. I think none of us will visit to that place again. I warn all not to put high expectation on it, and if possible don’t invest your lunch or dinner money there. We had the wrong investment and you won’t like to experience the same as we do. Really sad to tell that I start to miss old Tasty~~

I think I can cook better than Smell Tasty. I rather cook myself for the price I paid.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jwlaw83.blogspot.com/2006/08/smell-tasty-im-gonna-beat-yer.html' title='Smell Tasty? But it’s because that he did me nothing, that’s why raise my anger. I cannot take it, for a boss who is so stingy. I know that it’s hard to become a good boss, taking in so much consideration, but I see him putting no effort, not good enough, not qualified enough.

People always like to compare, and after comparing you’ll start to improve yourself and upgrade your skill so that you gain respect and stay professional. Why he doesn’t do so? After comparing with other bosses, I found that my boss never treat me lunch, while other team already went Japanese or Thai food for so many times, paid by the boss. Yes, those bosses did claim from company, and it’s not their money, in terms on sincerity, they’re not good at all. But they know how to use some company resources to keep subordinates happy and satisfied, thus keep them work hard for company. Even that they can claim on the food and beverage, my “dear” boss don’t even take the initiative to do something for us, and keep my mouth shut! Everytime when you think that he’s so good to invite us for a team lunch, the next day you’ll be receiving bill from him. I wonder if he send out the bill and I tried to ignore, what will happen? But I guess no one will dare to do so to a BOSS. Anyhow, don't try to invite me to a T/O celebration but end up with paying my own. If that case, what's the meaning of celebration, better not to put that instead, just making me pissed off.

Alright, maybe you’ll think that I’ve been requesting too much, requesting people to be perfect. I just wonder why other people can do that but not him? He gave us a lot of freedom in work, but sometimes I feel that he’s not concern enough. Don’t pretend to be holy and follow all the rules in the company. Rules are created by human and can be change time to time. If you don’t take the first step, how do you think the rules came? I don’t mean to offend anyone. Just that my boss doesn’t get high points from me. That’s it!

Slow Leonard

This is a title suggested by Julian. At first I don’t plan to write anything about this incident, or it might start with the title “Calamity Day” or “Broke Down” or something else. Why am I writing all these stuff then? Before my “beria-ia” stops, I think I better write more. As you know, English is not my first language and it’s kinda difficult for me to express myself with English.

Story starts in this way: I left office early yesterday at 5.40pm. What was in the original plan was to have a nap before having dinner, but you know… it ended up to be watching drama series one and a half episode. Well, it’s normal enough for me, once I start a new drama series, it’s hard to stop. At around 7pm, my dear UNITEN senior called me and coming to fetch me for dinner. (See how good is my senior, Leonard… learn lar... Hahaha) So after picked me up from my apartment, we went to pick up his housemate as well. And while waiting, dear senior went back to change and put his thing in this house in prior.

And now, when we are prepared to go for dinner plan, some calamity thing happened. What else? Car cannot start, and this reminds me of my lovely SERENA broke down end of April. (And since that I joined to certain gang till now. Alright, since memories are back, should thank Julian and Wee Meng for the help they’ve been providing to me that time) Pity WIRA, staying stationary there, with some attempt to start up, but it failed no matter how hard we tried. For rescue from being stucked at Villa Emas, yes, we called Leonard up, and he said he needs another half an hour to come for us. Yes, we didn’t tell him that we haven’t had our dinner yet. I called Huey Fen as well, and this extra ordinary hardworking girl, still in the office, and she said that need to wait a while till her work finish.

We did called the mechanic, went back to the house and wait for the mechanic for half an hour. The mechanic didn’t bring us good news, because it’s not the car battery problem to cause the failure. He suspected it’s the fuel injection sensor. How unfortunately we were! It’s okay. I’m not hungry anyway, and I thought the guys were the same. We waited for rescue till 10pm, my dear senior finally gave second call to slow Leonard. Later, we got into the new black HONDA CITY, with Leonard and his new Sony Ericsson K750. This guy is really slow guy… Don’t know how long he needs to take from PG12 to Villa Emas. Maybe still busy appreciating his K750. Brought wrong people with him to buy handphone, anyhow… none of my business. He was good enough to bring us for dinner though, with surprise on his face to hear that we had not taken our meal.

Late in the night, which it is supposed to be supper time, we had our dinner at supertanker, a place where Julian dislikes a lot. With the calamity element, we end up from happening plan to have “he kor” at Jelutong or some what better into supertanker’s fried rice. It is supposed for Stanley’s Bon Voyage dinner, and now it ended up with a great mess up.

Anyhow, Stanley, all the best to you for your 10 weeks in US! We shall miss you for dinner and cooking =P Take care, dude!

Sayonara, Tasty

This is last day business for Tasty after the aunty boss told me and Leonard on 7th Aug that it’s second last day before her business end. It came abruptly that Leonard don’t have enough time to taste all his favourite foods before everything is over.

I was early on the last day 8th Aug. After having my Tau Fu Fah at Pekaka with Pik Lay, Sheau Yiing and sick Chin Leong, I was a bit lazy to go for dinner actually. I still head my Serena to Sunway Tunas, nevertheless, for the last day in Tasty. As I said, I was earlier than all of them, waited in the shop for 15 minutes, alone, before Leonard finally came, followed by Adelene, Soek Junn, Wee Meng, Chuan Ning and James. While waiting in the shop for the arrival of the crowd, I chatted some with the boss and she treated me a bowl of Leng Chee Kang. It was sweet, very sweet indeed. Later I found out that others, who got drink treated by her as well, said that the drinks were sweet. So we guessed that probably she wanted to clear off the sugar left before she ends her business here.

The dinner was full with laughter and chats for more than an hour. Maybe it’s because of the last day business, a lot of the dishes have been out of stock, and the greatest victim of all was Chuan Ning, who needs to move to his third choice of meal selection. Leonard will miss the “Three Cup Chicken” a lot, while having his Tasty Special Beancurd again. Besides the free drink, we were being served with the free appetizer, which was the salad Yew Cha Kuih. It was just nice for Soek Junn, who was very hungry waiting for her meal to come. I had my porridge, since I already had Leng Chee Kang and Tau Fu Fah before the standard dinner.

We did enjoy the dinner yesterday, with great story of a half piece beancurd. I wonder if Soek Junn had a nightmare in her dream yesterday. Don't want to talk story on that beancurd, else Soek Junn will kill me for spreading! We shall miss Tasty, and now need to explore for some other new dining places for dinner. Happy birthday to both of them. For Jin Jun, I’ve bought her birthday cake and celebrated it on Sunday while I’m still in KL.

As for Ker Li, Adelene as her buddy, good enough to set up lunch celebration for her. 17 of us gather at Sobayoshi, Krystal Point, for so-called birthday celebration. Sorry Ker Li for not buying you any cake, even a birthday song. Anyhow, hope you enjoy the birthday song that is being sent by Sheau Yiing. That video clip just nice for you.

Ker Li doesn’t really like Sobayoshi, same as me. I prefer chinese cuisine, which has better taste. I was thinking to go or not to go, since I’ve spent a lot during my trip back to KL and Jin Jun’s birthday. Sometimes, people just need to give face to others. Alright, Ker Li was good to me, so I need to give her some face, haha… I had Chicken Terriyaki for lunch and sat in the same table as all the guys. Yes, I'm dude!! Wee Meng has been complaining that the quality of the food serve is not as good as what he had before, it’s just like chicken rice with higher price pay. I don’t really mind, I just like sushi for Japanese food, and not any Ramen or Rice or Tempura or what.

Well, it’s normal for our team to hang out during someone’s birthday celebration with more than 10 people. It’s hard to find a place that can fit all of us. This reminds me of Soek Junn’s birthday, where Sheau Yiing needs to rush here and there just to find a place that can accommodate all. So whose birthday next? Anymore August babies?

Ker Li, you don’t even have wishes for your birthday? Remember to make a wish during tonight birthday celebration with your friends and others. Don’t waste that wish! Happy birthday again...

List of Attendees: Ker Li, Adelene, Lan Sin, Xiao Wei, Sheau Yiing, Pik Lay, Kit Fei, Wee Cheng, Wan Ni, Lee Wooi, James, Leonard, Chuan Ning, William, Choon Peng, Wee Meng and me.. of course!!

Stupid Bus

Yes, I'm still mad, full with anger. Can you imagine that I’ve been spending 7 hours just to have myself travel from KL to Penang? It’s ridiculous, but yet it happened.

I’ve reached Pudu Bus Station at 4.20pm for my 4.30pm bus to Penang. Alright, it’s a bit rush since I’ve to arrange my return ticket for my next trip. It’s just a big stupid thing that those buses company cannot allow people to buy ticket from KL to Penang at Penang. Why can’t they just upgrade to online service since they gain so much from the customers? Well, I wished to buy Konsortium bus tickets for 28th Aug, but unfortunately the queue was too long and the Gunung Raya counter girl was rushing me to wait at the platform where she claimed that the bus was waiting there. Alright, so I’ve no choice but just to purchase my bus ticket at Gunung Raya since I’m already there.

I was not having bad temper that time, so I waited at the said platform. Wait and wait, and time go by. Waited till 5pm, and yet I don’t see any bus with plat number 9411. I took the trouble to climb up the staircase and went to the bus counter again. She said nothing much to me and busy arranging something else. In a while, she returned to me with a new arrangement. When I think back now, I don’t know what to say with this arrangement. Maybe it was fate that I need to go trough these. She explained to me that the bus went down, and she arranged me to be transferred to another bus at 5.30pm. See what, this means I’ve to stay at Pudu Bus Station for an hour doing nothing but wait. Never mind, this is minor problem since I’ve been waiting for 1.5hours last time for Konsortium, I can tolerate a bit with this.

My tolerance doesn’t seem to bring me a better luck. I’ve got the last seat, end of the bus. I can’t complain anything because I’m the one getting transferred. I think I still can cope with this. So I just took the seat and start to sleep as usual. Later I woke up and found that the bus was heading to Slim River at around 7pm. Oh my, I can forecast what’s going on now…

Just a while after the bus paid the toll, turned right at the traffic junction and then I can see a bus in front of an Islamic restaurant. And yes, I was correct, I wished I was not that clever that time L This stupid bus driver drove us to the restaurant and spent us 40 minutes there. You might not believe it, but when the bus heading towards the restaurant, I got a strong feeling of devil smiling: “Welcome to the Dark World!” This is the restaurant where I’ve heard long time that they serve sucks food with high price, and they even charge you for toilet! Can someone just explain to me why that the bus driver stopped there, when there is nice furnished place at Tapah or other rest house along the journey, with free toilet fee?? I’ve made a guess, it’s just that the restaurant owner gave them some benefits such as a meal + 2 packs of cigarettes. Shame of the drivers!! Unprofessional at all. Only 4 passengers went down to buy something, 2 with chips and 2 with packed rice, and all of us need to wait for 40 minutes, and I think it’s just too much.

Alright, struggling with the time waste, at 7.40pm journey continues, and I was hoping that I’m not that bad luck. The speed was not fast, in deed I feel that it is slow. At 9pm, bus reached Ipoh and I started to worry. If I’m not mistaken, it would probably 11pm when the bus reach Butterworth and it would be 11.30pm till the bus reach Penang. Why I have such a “brilliant” brain to say on this?? Why it came out to be that true?? Anyhow, after we set off from Butterworth, I managed to shift my seat to the front. Suddenly I heard a woman with two children beside her scolding something. She was actually annoyed and complaining that the bus company has been cheating for giving her a bus which is not going to Penang directly. Moreover, it is spending 40 minutes at some stupid place and wasting the passenger’s time. They were actually had a fight and the woman keep on scolding stupid and cheating. The driver fight back saying: “Counter and driver are different. Driver is the one who driving and you should ask the driver but not the counter.” “How are we supposed to see the driver in prior purchasing our bus tickets at the counter??” See, the consumers are always right. Driver was so stupid and unreasonable to provide such an excuse.

Penang at 11.30pm, the Penang Bridge does remind me of the marathon a week before. Bus took 7 minutes and 42 seconds to get passed the bridge, and I’ve used up 2 hours to walk through it. I’m still angry but not till the peak until I realize that Carment, who was in the 6.15pm Konsortium bus, reached Penang in 4 hours time. I don’t know if anyone can feel my anger. This is just too unfair! With that extra 3 hours I can do other more valuable activities, but yet it only comes out with 3 hours or extra waiting. Shit!! Can I report to the press and complain?? Will this benefit me next time?!

Superb Dinner

What a superb dinner that we had!! Nowadays homely and happening. What I'm trying to say is that when post-Julian era comes, we did changed. Although still some happening factors in us, but we're now homely. Before this we had cooking thrice, and yesterday night is another home day, thanks to Carment. It’s all because of the chicken soup that she cooked for us with all those Chinese medicines in it.

I bought cream dory fillets from Giant after work with a lemon and a bottle of plum sauce. Yes, cooking from me again, I wanted to make “Lemon Fish”. This would be my first try. The cashier was a bit blur case, I found out after I was back to my apartment. Three items that were supposed to be charged into the bill, but when I looked at the receipt clearly, my lemon was given FREE. Anyhow it’s only 89 cents, you won’t want to go back there and pay them right? Hehe…

Alright, with ingredients on my hand, I defrosted the fillets and mix them with lemon juice. It’s a big mess since my so-called kitchen was least likely a kitchen, with everything limited. Luckily there was no one at home, leaving me alone. I can still take my own sweet time. When I started to fry fillets, of course the kitchen became oily. Quite a long time I took for frying, with hot plate and a pot. When I almost finish my cook, guests were knocking door and complaining that I’m too busy cooking and don’t want to let them in. Sorry for that guys =P

It was not enough for Carment, Wee Meng, Leonard and I with my cook. As in the plan, three of them went to the night market, which is in the walking distance from my apartment. They took quite some time to “shop” in the night market. With the shopping queen and shopping king there, it was really lots of food that I finally had in the house. Guess what? We had chicken soup, cream dory fillet, vege (as limited as Leonard’s cook. Don’t blame, it’s leftover from the day before), 2 packs tomato rice, 3 packs of fried mee, satays, murtabak, percik chicken, fried cempedak and drinks. Dude, total of 9 different types of food! Feeling fainted a bit with all their “hard effort”.

Right now, finishing the food was a challenge. I started with 2 bowls of chicken soup, and it filled my stomach almost half. Maybe it’s just a feeling… After that I still can finish a pack of fried mee, 5 satays, half piece of murtabak, 2 small pieces of dory fillet and also my Loh Hon Guo. It was superb meal, with superb friends. Everyone of us can’t really move much with such a full stomach. Leonard, the pity still need to finish up his percik chicken, and left the last one take away for supper. Carment, the girlish, had the least, as she’s the girl. She can’t really eat much as usual, this was being forgiven. Wee Meng, washed all the plates and bowls, and finished up Carment’s last-called chicken soup.

I had a great time. Just that this morning when I wake up, I’m very very hungry. Yesterday dinner was just too much. A superb meal with superb friends…

Sleepy

Suddenly noticed that all my blog title now started with "S". Just now during lunch time I was thinking of composing a new one, starting with "S". Guess what comes to my mind? Haha... "Sarb". Fainted right? Sorry, dude, I won't want to think of this word, it just came to my mind. I think this should be normal, since tomorrow I'm going to have 1:1 meeting with him. Who knows maybe later when I get crazy, this will become my new title =p

Well, my mum was right to born me in the pig year. Sleeping is just nice for me. Each day 6 hours at least and also show sleepy face everyday. Sleeping is simply a trademark for pig. Eat and sleep and eat and sleep again... There is always sleepy timing, around 2pm and 4pm. But when it's near to off work hour, immediately turns energetic. Everyone is just the same. Laziness of human-being... I admit that I'm not the hardworking type, so please do not expect much form me.

Haha~~ Next time can write about small-gas, what else starting with “S”, Superman and Spiderman!! She was suffering from food poisoning the day before, so she got her MC and stays a day leave at home. With nothing to do at home, she went to nearby supermarket to get some raw material for her ABC soup as well as chicken soup. Now, the soup is ready and she is asking me not to go out for dinner, but go back home to have some bihun instead.

Well, as what I’ve told her, I’m having a swimming date. So what I can do is just give her support after I’m back from swimming. Laziness in me trying to make me cancel the swimming plan and stay to be a homely girl. Anyhow, decision has been made and no changes are allowed.

Yes, I’m in PISA again for swimming plan with Leonard. We have been hearing rumors on the termination of subsidiary on this PISA admission fees from INTEL. However, the two stubborn people still want to pay PISA another visit to prove on this. And yes, the subsidiary program has been pulled out, making us paying RM3 instead of RM1. Only now I realize that our company is subsidizing that much, how sad to have pay extra RM2 for the entrance! Leonard keeps on complaining that he wanted to voice this out during next cyber chat. This is in deed true that they should have been informing the employees through some sort of announcement like what they did when they announce the good news of subsidization.

PISA’s pool stays the same, not clean enough. Yet, I still like the pool because of its size and depth. Again, we saw some training on synchronous swimming which keep his eyes stick on the chics. Pity lady, being peep by guys. I’m some sort of making bad reputation of Leonard. Alright, we were peeping together, hahaha~~ I like to watch swimming event during the Olympic heat, now is a chance to see how they get trained. China couch is the one who is training the Chinese girls. I wonder if they are not Chinese girls, or if they simply just “banana”, how are they going to communicate. I don’t quite trust the English of China couch…

So happy that today I manage to swim as many rounds as Leonard did. As what I said to him, it’s not that I cannot make it, just sometimes lazy pig will find so many excuses to become hardworking. I’m type B, lazy type, and this is my origin. And according to Leonard, we’re type B people who stuck in the type A world.

Maybe people think that it’s hard to start some sport after that tiring Marathon three days ago. It surprised me a little for the fast recovery of the muscle pain. I’m still considering if I should go for Modern Jazz this evening……

Subway

It's Subway. Crowded place and made me queue up for an hour for the sandwiches. If it is not because of the promotion coupons, I don't think I will be there. People standing and waiting in the small-area, lining up for sandwiches ordering. Don't really understand why everyone is crazy on this fast food restaurant. I think it's mainly because it's newly open and with some special discount, since many of the customers are with some print-out paper on their hand. Anyhow the coupons are to give you a free 6" sandwich with purchase of a 6" sandwich with 2 large soft drinks.

Well, Pik Lay had given her patronage to this shop, so at least we're not too blur with the situation and the style of ordering our meal. After queuing for nearly an hour, we manage to be at the side of the sandwich bar. Here, you can have a clear look at the ingredients that is going to make your sandwich. There are four different types of bread they offer for your choice: hearty Italian, parmesan oregano, Italian and wheat. After having your right choice of bread type, the waitress will take your selected bread from the huge oven, which means they are freshly baked. The breads are 12" long, so she will have to cut the bread into 2 before proceed the following step, if the customer is not ordering for the footlong sandwiches (it cost RM7 extra for this footlong sandwich).

Having the 6" long sandwich, she started to put in 2 small slices of cheese (the size is about half a piece of cheesedal cheese that you can get in the supermarket). I ordered the turkey breast + turkey ham + breakfast stripe sandwich. So she put these three types of ingredients into the microwave for 30 seconds to heat them up, I think cook them as well. Now I understand why it takes us waiting so long in the queue. Imagine each and everyone need to wait for this 30 seconds heat up, how is it possible to make it done so much with only one microwave and one waitress there?

So when they are done, they are placed on the sandwich with the two slices of cheese. Next, this is passed to another waiter. Actually I don't know if I should call them waiter/waitress, just simply. Alright, this waiter is responsible to put in other vegetable stuffs, I think it's more to a garnishing purpose, to make the sandwiches look much more beautiful in colour. This station will have all those lettuces, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and etc place nicely on the sandwich layer. You can choose to skip some of the ingredients if you don't like them, it reminds me of some ice-kacang or "Qing Bo Leong" in night market, where sometimes we skip the bean or some jelly. It is not that nice looking as what we get to see in the promotion banners, anyhow I don't ask for much. The last part is the sauce part, I can see 7 to 8 bottles of different sauce there, I just pick the mustard and barbeque sauce, leaving all those tomato and chili sauce, terriyaki and mayonnaise. The "sauce waitress" get your sandwiches wrapped with "SUBWAY" wrapping paper, and we're ready to pay at the cashier.

With the coupon, we pay RM16.90 for two sandwiches and two soft drinks. Alright, it’s all depending on what kind of sandwiches are you ordering. It is ranging from RM9.60 to RM11.30. What we took was RM11.30, and the soft drink cost RM2.80. It will add-on RM3.40 to your sandwich to make it a set meal with a soft drink and chips. The large cup that they gave us confirmed me to waste some of the soft drink, since I don't really support on soft drink. Coke was the choice, I don't have much choice left, do I?

By the time we settled down with the sandwiches on hand, the crowd is getting lesser, we managed to get place to taste SUBWAY sandwiches. Pik Lay said that her mouth was too small to squeeze the sandwich in, and yet this is true, as she being the first to get her sandwich, but end up to finish up the last. Let me correct it this way, she didn’t finish it actually, just manage to put the inner part of the sandwich into her stomach.

Tasting the sandwich was quite ok, because I seldom got the chance to have any turkey breast and turkey ham. A bit careless act from me as I accidentally get my dress "dress up" with a small portion of mustard, and make the dress a little yellow in colour now. I quite like the taste of ham actually, but if buy from supermarket, they are far more expensive that I can pay. Besides, I like mustard too, reminds me of the mustard I took in IKEA some times ago with its expensive hotdog. This is what I called high-class food, which violates my principal to make my life simple and "cheap". I give myself some sort of excuse to come out for lunch, because yesterday dinner I just had maggie mee at home for fetching my dear weak housemate to visit doctor for her food poisoning. And also, today should be a relaxing day, since rollup is being completed yesterday. Leonard like the place and food a lot, this high-class guy will pay them visit very often I guess. The happening and high-class reminds me of Jules. So Chin Leong took out his camera phone to take a picture of his 2nd sandwich for Jules, and of course it's wrapped for Chin Leong's tea later in the evening time. Sorry Jules, unable to let you sneak a look at the sandwiches.
